WELCOME TO THE BASI FESTIVAL & THE
4th Naguilian Global Reunion 2009
When I arrived at the Nava de Oro Resorts on Sunday, the Flora Clan was having their reunion.
So I stuck my head and said Hello! The Floras and Condes were there.
Feb 16, 2009 Monday
The town was on festive mode. I found, after having been invited to the Department Heads Meeting and the Sangungiang Bayan Meeting, that the municipality has combined the Basi Festival (The Town Fiesta) and the 4th Naguilian Global Reunion. It was a last minute decision that was not communicated to us (Balikbayans) before we left the US, perhaps due to lack of time. The activities had been expanded considerably. As it stand, there will be no May Fiesta for 2009, nor other major events for the rest of 2009, in anticipation for the slowdown in the economy.
Municipal Personel in Exercise after the Sanguniang Flag Ceremony. A showing of commitment of wellness and the support for the Medical/Dental Mission by the current administration.
Part of the Exercise were Tai-Bo and Ballroom Steps. What an interesting 10-minute exercise.
Official Opening of the Agri-Trade Fair. Each of the Naguilian Districts had a display booth.
After the Medical/Dental Mission, at 6 PM was the Appreciation Dinner.
It turned out that this event was a competition among all teacher districts
in Naguilian. A one-hour event turned to be a 3.5 hour-cultural show! The
Balikbayan bus arrived not long ago, but after dinner, it was hard for some
of them to stay awake, they had to retire. The show was very nicely done,
despite the very short practice time (a week?). To some, they had to
practice day and night.
